Frequently asked questions
Bedrock points work by converting the activities learners do on Bedrock into points that add up over time! For example, starting a Bedrock lesson is 2 points, and successfully completing it is 8 points.
These points provide a useful metric for viewing learners’ engagement with Bedrock, making it simpler than ever to praise learners for their hard work.
The best way to earn Bedrock points is by doing activities on Bedrock Learning. From something as small as recapping words (one point) to completing an entire Bedrock block (30 points), everything learners do on Bedrock adds up to their total points.
We use the weeks in a half-term to calculate the points needed to be entered into the prize draw. In a seven-week-long half-term, learners must earn 140 points to be entered - the equivalent of 20 points a week, the Bedrock target for optimal progress. This number may be lower or higher depending on the length of the half-term, as we are aiming for that two lessons per week goal.
While the Bedrock prize draw works as an incentive to motivate learners, you could extend that to your own prizes within your school! By running your own Bedrock competitions and prize draws, learners are guaranteed to see a winner amongst their peers, which is incredibly motivating.
Examples we have seen from Bedrock schools have been pizza parties for classes with the highest engagement, gift vouchers for the learners who spent the longest amount of time on Bedrock - there are so many ways to encourage your learners!
