Prior to starting our Macbeth topic, I taught my bottom set year 10s contextual vocabulary like ‘regicide,’ ‘machiavellian’ and ‘patriarchy’ on Bedrock. The students were more confident approaching a tricky Shakespearean text because they were armed with knowledge of the key concepts.
