Consistent motivation
We run this Bedrock Stars prize draw every half term, and always set the target to the number of Bedrock points optimal for literacy progress.
This gives learners a consistent source of motivation to do their homework, levelling up their literacy improvement.
Frequently asked questions
All schools using the Bedrock core curriculum are entered automatically into the prize draw. This means that any Bedrock learner who has achieved their points target is in with a chance to win!
Your school will be notified if a learner has won a prize.
After we have randomly selected the winners, we contact the winner's lead Bedrock teacher and state that they have won a Bedrock Stars prize. The teacher can then decide whether they would like the prize emailed to them, the parent or the learner directly (in the case of a voucher), or the prize delivered to the school or the learner's home (in the case of a Chromebook).
Teachers have until the end of the next half term to confirm that they would like to receive their learner's prize.
When we post about the prize draw, we give a certain amount of points learners must earn in order to be entered - for example, 140 points before a certain date.
However, these points are calculated with the number of weeks in a half term factored in. A six-week half term means learners must earn 120 points to enter; an eight-week half term means learners must earn 160 points.
As well as this, we factor in half-term holidays, picking the best closing date for the competition that includes schools with differing term dates - this means every Bedrock learner has a fair chance to win.
