Voice Actor (Freelance)

Salary: £10.00 per hour (allocation of hours can be discussed and worked around your schedule)
Type: Freelance, project-based

We are looking for voice actors to bring our online curriculum to life! Whether you’re an actor, a podcast host, or just someone with a clear and captivating voice – we want to hear from you.

Who are we?

Bedrock Vocabulary is an innovative online application that teaches ambitious language to students through research-based activities and quality prose. All of our content is human narrated, from extracts of fiction and non fiction to snippets of lesson feedback.

Read our company culture code.

Where do I fit in?

We are currently working on expanding our curriculum beyond the realms of vocabulary, including our first units of Bedrock Grammar and a learning scheme for Morphology. You will be narrating teaching videos, excerpts of prose, activity feedback, and the questions and answers to assessment quizzes. You will be the voice of the curriculum, so your narration will be crucial to a positive, educational student experience.

Requirements

A clear, engaging voice
Familiarity on how to record quality audio
Strong literacy and reading ability
Meticulous attention to detail, in case of any errors in the copy
High levels of reliability and availability
Proactive attitude when researching, seeking accurate and consistent pronunciation of unfamiliar names, words, etc.

Desirable

Home access to recording equipment and software

If you are local to Norwich, you may be able to record in our in-office sound booth. Otherwise, you will need access to a quality mic, and recording software like Adobe Audition or Audacity.

We are keen for our content to be inclusive and representative, so we especially encourage applications from candidates who are under-represented in the creative and educational industries.

How to apply

Please send a voice clip of you reading the extracts attached to nathaniel.woo@bedrocklearning.org (Nathaniel Woo). If you would like to tell us a bit more about yourself, you can send through a CV and a cover letter by clicking the “Apply Now” button below – this is optional.
